Dog Training Tricks On Correcting Bad
Behavior
A dog does not understand spoken words. He
will associate actions with words and learns by
repetition. I will explain how this occurs. There are five
universal commands that every dog should respond to: sit,
down, stay, heel and come.
Dog
training tricks use actions
or signals in conjunction with spoken commands. For
instance, you give the command to sit. What physical cue
are you giving at that moment? If you want him to lay
down do you point to the ground when saying down? It is
association.
It
is interesting to think about a dog living in another
country and hearing these commands in another language.
The universal signals are the same. They associate these
signals with whatever form of speech they
hear.
The
main purpose of training your dog is to be confident
knowing it will behave and respond positively in nearly
any situation. An obedient, well trained canine is a joy
to both his owner and the surrounding community. He will
also pick up on your body language and moods as well.
They know when you disapprove, but sometimes are unaware
of why.
Using
dog training tricks to enhance your communication with your
best friend is the main objective. Pay close attention to your
dog’s own personal signals as well, and you will be aware of
impending trouble. You will know when he is nervous and needs
to be removed from a situation.
There
are four basic signals that trainers use to communicate
with their pupils. These are:
Reward
signal, which lets the dog know it has earned a
reward.
Keep
going signal, tells the dog to carry on to get the
reward.
No
reward signal, tells the dog he performed incorrectly and
to try something new.
Punishment
signal, tells the dog it has earned a punishment for an
incorrect action.
Handlers
will use either words or a device known as a clicker to
communicate these signals to the dog. An average
obedience course will run approximately six to ten weeks,
and every owner is encouraged to take part in these
sessions.
New
dog training tricks are being introduced all of the time.
Some breeds are easier to train than others, some are
naturally stubborn and take extra effort, but all dogs
can be trained. The effort and patience it requires are
well worth it in the long run.
