Fun Advanced Dog Training Games That Your Doggie Will Love

advanced dog trainingOne of the most important tricks that every dog must learn is coming when called. You need to teach your dog this training basic for your own safety and hers. A disobedient dog can get into fight with others, or can run out in traffic. Since you don’t want bad things like that to happen, you need to teach to teach her this basic dog training  skill. That way, she will come to you whenever you call her.

Teaching a dog to come when called is pretty easy and straightforward. It involves showering your doggie with praises and giving her treats whenever she does what you want.   After the basic training exercises are mastered, there are plenty of fun, more advanced tricks that can be introduced as a challenge.   Making training into fun games is one of the best ways to motivate your dog.

Before you begin any food based training, it’s imperative that you check to make sure your doggie is motivated and ready first.   Getting the basics out of the way is one thing, but you’ll also need to teach  advanced dog training exercises.   The only way you’ll be able to do any of this is if you wait until your doggie is feeling motivated and in a receptive mood.

The best treats for basic games, like hide and seek, are shredded or small pieces of chicken, liver, or cheese.   Always use very small pieces in order to avoid over feeding your dog.   Getting her fat when you’re only supposed to be training her will only be counterproductive!

One fun game that you and someone else can play with your dog is back and forth recall.    This great exercise will teach your dog to come whenever a member of the family calls for her to do so.   After all, you wouldn’t want her to come to just anybody---you need to get her to learn only your voice and those of other family members.   Advance dog training will get your dog to learn who is in charge and to only obey that person.

When paying the back and forth recall game, you and another person (or two) will stand approximately ten yards a part in a safe place.   One person will call the dog and when she responds correctly, she’ll be rewarded with a treat.   Most dogs love this game and respond to the exercise.   When playing, it’s important that only the individual who called her and to whom she responded correctly will give out the treat.   For further practice of this advanced dog training game, the humans can keep spreading out more and more a little bit at a time.

Every time one of you calls for the dog to come, you can spread out further away from where you started.   As the game continues, one person will be at one end of the yard and another person will be at the other end. This is somewhat like a hide and seek game, and can be so much fun for your doggie that she’ll catch on very quickly.   She’ll start to look specifically for who is calling for her so that she can get her treat.   Dogs are hunting animals, after all, and any advances or  basic dog training based on food is like second nature to them.
