Learn
How to Potty Train Your Dog
Dogs tend to be very clean animals. They
won’t soil near to where they eat or sleep. Indeed, dogs
usually don’t “potty” until they’re at least six feet away
from their food and sleeping area. But living in a house
can be unnatural for an animal whose instincts would be to
roam wherever he or she wishes, so you’ll have to help
your doggie learn where he can relieve
himself.
It’s highly essential that you begin potty training a dog as
soon as possible.
Trying to break a habit of your dog is quite difficult and can
be rather frustrating. You need to utilize some
encouragement and guidance to help your pet. Animal behaviorists have some
good, helpful tips that you can go by to help with the
housebreaking of your dog.
Dogs really are sanitary creatures. However, if a dog does
relieve itself in the wrong place, it’s usually an accident,
and is rather far from his dish. This is true to where a dog
sleeps as well.
Unless you don’t take them out to show them where to use it,
then they think that the inside of your house is
okay. You
obviously don’t want her to think this, so you need to learn
how to potty train your dog.
The process of housebreaking a dog is pretty much the same
whether he’s a pup or an adult dog that is new to your
home. You must
take him outside every couple of hours and also thirty minutes
after he eats.
Take your pet to the designated area, and stay with him/her
until he/she goes, and then give praise. If the dog doesn’t go, bring
him back inside and try again within fifteen minutes or so, or
whenever you see him sniffing around the
carpet.
Some
potty training for dogs can go much more quickly than
others, depending on their personalities and
behaviors.
But, if you take your doggie outside at the correct time,
everything will go smoothly. A puppy that is less
than 4 months old will feel the need to go out at
night. Older
pups and dogs can hold it longer. Any doggie that cries
to be let out has urgent needs, so get yourself up and
out of bed to take him/her out! Your dog will need
every chance to succeed as possible. Positive reinforcement
is essential.
How
you handle the accidents will affect your dog toilet
training endeavors. If you ever catch your
doggie going in the act, you can distract him/her with a
clap or by calling out his/her name. Take him outside calmly
at that moment and praise him for finishing
outside.
Clean up accidents whenever they’re left on the floor.
If
your dog ever approaches during the time, ignore him.
Don’t punish or even talk to him at this point. The worst
thing you can do is yell at your dog. Never, ever
physically punish him. This will do nothing but cause
fear and you’ll bond at all that way. Remember; never
lose your temper over
dog potty training problems.
